Wil Nef is a Swiss songwriter and composer creating music for dance, TV and film. His work moves across a wide range of styles — from his signature Alien Electro Pop to rhythmic electro pop, rock, disco, orchestral music, film scores and soundtracks.

EARLY LIFE

Born and raised in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Wil Nef developed a fascination for music at an early age. He grew up listening to the Swiss and international charts, recording his favourite songs on cassette — and getting annoyed whenever the radio presenter talked over the music.

At 16, he formed the mobile discotheque Fireball with a group of friends, with Wil as DJ. What started small eventually grew into events in concert halls and even ice-hockey stadiums, where they created their own “Eisdisco.”

CAREER

Trained as a mechanical engineer, Wil's professional career gave him the opportunity to live and work in very different parts of the world, including Neuchâtel, Monroe in Connecticut, Long Beach in California, Bangalore in India, Singapore and, for the past 14 years, Lugano.

Living across different countries and cultures exposed him to different people, ideas and, naturally, different kinds of music.

SONGWRITER & COMPOSER

Wil's passion for music eventually connected with another lifelong fascination: the Universe, science and visionary science fiction.

A major source of inspiration became Liu Cixin's extraordinary Three-Body Problem trilogy. Inspired by its ideas, characters and enormous timescale, Wil began creating a musical journey, resulting in a monumental
three-album project.

The first album, 400 Years, was released on June 15, 2024.

The second album, 200 Years, followed on September 15, 2025.

The third album, 18 Million Years, completes the trilogy and is scheduled for release on October 15, 2026. Its music moves even further into dreamy, cinematic and futuristic territory.

WHAT IS ALIEN ELECTRO POP?

Alien Electro Pop is a visionary music genre blending modern electronic pop with cinematic orchestration, elements of classical music and the theatrical power of opera — all wrapped in a cosmic, extra-terrestrial world.

It is music inspired by the Universe, science fiction and the question of what might exist beyond the world we know.

CURRENT PROJECT

Wil is currently completing 18 Million Years, the third album of the trilogy, while developing the next stage of Alien Electro Pop — bringing its music, visual world and storytelling together for future live performances.
