INTRODUCTION

Wil Nef is a Swiss songwriter and composer of music for dance, TV and film. He offers a wide variety of different music styles from Alien Electro Pop, rhythmic electro pop to rock, disco, orchestral, film and soundtrack.

EARLY LIFE

Born and raised in the Swiss town of St. Gallen, the fascination for music arose early. Listening to the Swiss and international charts, registering with the tape recorder all the cool music and always getting mad when the moderator talked in the middle of the song. For many years, with the transistor radio behind his pillow, he enjoyed the daily French top 30. The 1980th, a beautiful time with all the great rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Queen and so many cool Disco tunes. Later on, he developed preferences for bands using synthesizers (at that time brand new) like Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd and Electric Light Orchestra.
At the age of 16, he formed with some friends a mobile discotheque call “Fireball”, him as the DJ. They had quite successful times, playing in concert halls and eventually in hockey stadiums, they called it “Eisdisco”. Eventually life took different ways among the friends and the Discotheque was sold; albeit he kept all the discs and music equipment till today. 

CAREER

He is a trained mechanical engineer, and thanks to his employer he had the chance to live for many years in different places of the world, namely: Neuchâtel (French part of Switzerland); Monroe, Connecticut; Long Beach, California; Bangalore, India; Singapore; and now for the last 14 year in Lugano (Italian part of Switzerland). Exposed to different cultures, different food, and of course also different types of music to listen to. 

SONGWRITER AND COMPOSER

Full of passion for music and full of passion for documentary about our Universe as well as for good sci-fi films, eventually these 2 things came together when he came across the incredible story called The Three-Body Problem from Cixin Liu.
His inspiration came from the books, the Chinese episodes and finally also the Netflix series with its 8 episodes.
As the story is a Trilogy, there are 3 books and hence there will be 3 Albums.
The first Album is called “400 Years” and was released on June 15 2024.
The second Album is called “200 Years” and came out on September 15 2025.

ACTUAL PROJECT

The 3rd Album is under construction and will come out on September 15 2026. It will be based on the 3rd book which is called “End of Time”. The songs will be even dreamier and more futuristic than the 2nd Album.

MUSIC STYLE

The 3 Albums are all inspired by this incredible sci-fi story; hence it is all about aliens and related topics.

Therefore he created a new genre of Music branded as
Alien Electro Pop:
Alien Electro Pop is an emerging and visionary music genre that blends modern electronic pop sensibilities with the grandeur of classical music and the theatrical power of opera, all wrapped in a cosmic, extra-terrestrial narrative.

Wil Nef lives with his wife in Lugano, Switzerland.
